Friday 28th December – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington Marina – sunny periods with rainbows and showers.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

The mild and breezy weather continues so I head over to my go to winter venue Levington Marina after breakfast arriving around ten in lovely sunshine, with Mag taking the bus to the outskirts of Levington and walking down to the marina later with lunch:) Loads of water so the foil board is quickly set-up and on the small beach, once again what sail, with the wind wsw not the best direction here with W or SW being much better I decide to go big and rig my 6.5 which proved OK for most of the session, as usual here you get spells of slogging and periods of being overpowered! As I said wsw isn’t great, it chops up the river and you run out of wind down towards Felixstowe docks and getting up towards Pin Mill is also hard. So I stuck on the corner doing diagonal runs, nothing fast due to the chop but still lovely to be out in the sunshine. I was a good day for gybing as you could turn in the flatter water either side of the river, it was particularly flat by the marina entrance getting some good turns there! I was getting knackered now being out two hours and the sun had disappeared with some dark clouds approaching but I was waiting for Mag to arrive hoping she would take a few pics which she did when she got there. She was lucky to arrive before the rain arrived meaning it was time to call it a day. A quick chat and I walked to the toilets for a shower, on returning to the van the rain had cleared with the sun returning and we were treated to a full rainbow over the marina, perfect end to a good day:) Yummy lunch in our lovely little van before packing up and ending for home with yet another rainbow at the end of our road:)
